Eating Contests (watermelon, pie, pickle)
- All decisions by the Head Judge are final. The Head Judge is king and ruler of his domain.
- 25 maximum entrants per contest
- Contestants MUST sign up for the contest at the information booth at least 5 min prior to the beginning of the actual contest.
- An equal and pre-measured amount of each food will be given to each contestant.
- Contestants will be randomly placed into groups of 5 or less.
- Each group will in race fashion, eat all the food as quickly as possible.
- Final bites must be swallowed and the first person to show the judges an empty mouth will be declared the winner of that group.
- The winner’s time will be recorded for each group of contestants, and after the last group has finished, winning times will be compared and an overall winner for that food will be determined.
- A small prize will be awarded to each overall winner.

Horseshoes:
- Each person may only enter once.
- All decisions by the Head Judge are final. The Head Judge is king and ruler of his domain.
- No one will be allowed to begin after 4pm. It is possible that more people may want to play than we have time to accommodate. In this case, at the discretion of the Head Judge, no more players may be allowed to sign up or even to throw horseshoes.
- Contestants may enter the contest by signing up at the horseshoe tossing area. (Please ask at the information booth if you need help finding the area.) The sign-up sheet will work similar to a waiting list at your local restaurant. Each contestant is responsible for knowing where they are on the list, and for being in the area when their turn is called. Failure to do so can result in disqualification.
- Each contestant will throw two sets of four horseshoes.
- Contestants are competing for a best individual score.
- Throughout the day, a leadership board will be maintained. As contestants finish throwing, if their score is equal to or greater than the current top score, their name will be placed on the leader board.
- If there is a tie at the end of the contest period, a sudden death playoff will occur between all remaining leaders. In random order, each leader will toss four horseshoes. High score will win or in the case of another tie, move on to the next sudden death round.
- Contestants are responsible for knowing if they are in a playoff or not, and if they are in the playoff then they are responsible for being at the horseshoe area by 4:25pm that day. Failure to do so can result in disqualification.
- Our scoring rules are as follows:
- In order for a pitch to count, the horseshoe must land within 6 inches of the stake; any throws that fall outside this distance are ineligible for scoring. Scoring can take place in one of two ways: ringing (encircling the stake with your shoe) or landing your horseshoe closest to the stake.
- A ringer is worth 3 points. In order for a horseshoe to be classified as a ringer, you must be able to draw a straight line between the open ends of the horseshoe and not have that line touch the stake.
- Tossing your horseshoe closest to the stake is worth one point. The priority goes to any horseshoe that actually touches (or leans) against the stake; if none of the horseshoes are actually touching then the closest is determined by distance. If by chance a competitor scores both of the closest horseshoes then he is awarded 2 points instead of the normal one.
- Ringers and closest horseshoes are calculated separately, so it's entirely possible for a player to score 3 points from a ringer on their first toss and an additional point for having the closest horseshoe on their second.
